f.a.r.m. put in a great effort for Floriade this year, and under very difficult circumstances. But the picture above shows some happy (but very cold) carers and animals on the day the Patting Paddock went "pink" to raise awareness about breast cancer. We stage "pink" days at all our major events as many of us have been effected by cancer, and not just breast cancer. We know someone, we have a family member, we hear of friends who are dealing with these insidious diseases nearly every week, and in a small way we like to support them and take the message to the wider community in a fun way in the farmyard. Where did 2009 go? It was here briefly, and now we are finalising Christmas preparations and staring another year in the face as the weeks flash by in a flurry of activity and mayhem. We have been going to numerous Christmas functions with the Patting Paddock, and two great events of the last couple of weeks were the Tuggeranong Festival (quite cold after some record-breaking temperatures in mid November) and the Queanbeyan Fun Day held in conjunction with the Professional Foot Race - the Queanbeyan Gift.
Yes the Patting Paddock will be back at this wonderful event next week and it is our opportunity to make it a truly special day for those hundreds of children from various backgrounds who come together each year just before Christmas. The team from f.a.r.m. give of their time and put more than 100% into entertaining and caring for those children and families attending. Well done team, it makes all the effort worthwhile when you see the look on the faces of some of our special "guests" that visit the Patting Paddock.
Over the next couple of weeks...yes right up to Christmas eve, we will be attending various celebrations of Christmas incorporating carols and an evening of remembering the original Christmas story where a birth in a stable full of animals changed the course of history. In a small way the Patting Paddock animals bring that feeling alive again and we take the opportunity to wish everyone a holy, happy and peaceful Christmas.
This wonderful evening of song and enjoyment gets under way in the Tuggeranong Park from 5pm. There is a full program for the evening and the Patting Paddock will be enjoying a twilight outing, so come along and join in and share the Christmas spirit with your family and friends.
The Boxing Day race meeting at Queanbeyan is a great day out for the family and due to the many requests from families that attended the Queanbeyan cup some months back...we have agreed to stir the animals from their Christmas break and take the Patting Paddock to the Races! See you there!
The Patting Paddock is off to the beach for the annual Pambula Show....so if you are down the Coast and want a day of goo old fashioned country hospitality, then get the whole family along to the Pambula Show.
A big day for Bombala with the shearing championships,woodchopping, stalls and lots of activities, just in time to wind up your summer holidays.
