Jane
Southwell

Jane
is a sixth generation farmer whose love of the land and dedication
to producing quality wool from a small fine wool flock led her
to recognise the need for this knowledge and experience to be
shared with city people, particularly children. Born and educated
in the Canberra district, Jane is well known for her work with
agricultural shows and especially the development of Junior Steward
Programmes for young people wanting to know more about farm animals.
She was the first woman president of the Yass Show Society, a
postion she held for 5 years, a councillor of the RNCAS and is
currently the President of the Southern Highlands Show Socieites
Union, representing 17 local Shows.
Jane
sees that farm
animal resource
management offers
a vitally important link between commercial producers and an increasingly
urban-based society. Her commitment to presenting quality stock
in all f.a.r.m's
displays and using every opportunity to educate and inform visitors,
sets this business apart from most other mobile farm operations.
F.a.r.m.'s
education programme "From the Paddock to the Playground", which
includes the outstanding Marvellous Milk presentation and the
award-winning "Patting
Paddock"
are amongst her proudest achievements.
